Opportunity Rational
In accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers dated November
5th, 2008, the electricity purchase price offered by the ministry of power for
wind projects has been increased from previous price of 620 Rials (0.06
USD) per KWh to 1,241 Rials (0.12 USD) per KWh, a 100 percent increase.
The electricity will be purchased through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
signed with Iran Renewable Energy Organization (IREO) for a period of 20
years under take or pay scheme. This important change in policy has
significantly increased the economic feasibility of investment in wind farms in
Iran.
